Do you ever take any time to NOT multi-task or do you find yourself attempting to do it on your commute? Who said you can only be mindful sitting down in a quiet room with your legs crossed? While it is an amazing experience we can also reap the benefits of mindfulness during our drive. Vow to be PRESENT. This week make it an intention to drive 15-30 minutes before turning on your radio, talking on your phone, checking it at the light or in traffic or jotting down reminders. Before you begin driving acknowledge the intention that you have set. Take this time to check in with your breath as you settle into your seat. Attend to your senses as you put on your seatbelt, adjusting yourself comfortably, crank the vehicle and shift your gear. Feel your hands on the steering wheel and foot on the brake and gas pedal. Acknowledge the sights and sounds around you. Send out appreciation for this moment. As you drive stay present and be aware. You may notice things that you had not previously noticed. Check in with yourself once you have finished to see how it felt before turning on your radio or engaging with your phone.
